It's obvious body language can communicate all sorts of things that you may not want other people to know... So how do you control it?
Body Language Expert Kirk A. Duncan says you’d be surprised at how much of our communication actually comes from body language.
Communication is: 57% Body Language, 36% Tone, 7% Words.
Kirk says reading body language is important because it affects relationships, confidence, communication and overall performance. It either creates results or destroys them.
Kirk also says that body language improves marriages, parent child relations and business sales teams.
Plus it is simple to see if a person is avoiding the truth and it helps a lot to see this ahead of time so you can ask more questions to get the truth.

Body language can help with making a happy family
Posted:01/06/2011
By: Daphne Munro From Smart Family on ABC
Do you know your body language can be more effective when it comes to your family? Well, that is according to Kirk Duncan, who is a mentor, trainer and body language expert.
Duncan is also the president of 3 Key Elements and he visited Smart Family to show us ways to better communicate with our family through body language.
Duncan says by making some simple adjustments in your body language you can help make your family closer and help strengthen your relationships.
He says there are three mistakes parents can make with hand gestures; one is “hatchet hands”. He states this use of hands can send a message of not listening to anything your family member is saying. Second is "poking and piercing finger", which can hurts others deeply and can send a message of "you’re the problem and I want you gone". Third, Duncan says is "pushing". This body language keeps loved ones and family at a distance, sends message of "don't rely on me, I am a mess".
When it comes to your family's body language, there are three gestures you want to watch for. Like "South Eyes" -- looking down, this shows that emotions are thick and deep, this person needs a listening ear before it gets to deep.
Also watch out for, "Outside Eyes" -- looking to the side. This person is referencing other people more than their own thoughts, will get lost often and can make mistakes. And last "Sports Hands", which shows the direction of thought and future actions; supportive, willing, obedience or hurtful, deceit, sabotage.
Knowing ahead of the actual actions gives a parent a chance to prepare and address what is about to happen. This body language can be an easy gage to measure another person’s morale, according to Duncan.
He adds that, if parents could read their children's body language it would help them be better parents. He also believes that this would help parents remove some mystery of "what is my child thinking?" or "why did they do that?" or to know if their child is beginning to slip or is now taking steps to improvement. Duncan adds that as a parent, this has helped him to "see" what and where his children's thoughts, feelings and actions are going.
